Even if football isn't your thing (the commercials and Rihanna's half time show are what I'm really looking forward to) the Super Bowl is a great excuse to throw a party and have a good time with your friends and family.

Plan the greatest game day with our Super Bowl party checklist

With great organization comes great hosting. In order for you to have the smoothest Super Bowl Sunday, explore our Super Bowl party checklist so you are prepped to perfection.

1. Get the drinks in

What's a party without delicious drinks? From fruity mocktails to ice cold beers, if you're planning on hosting a big gathering with friends and family, you not only need to consider your drinks menu (or, of course, tell people to BYO), but you will also need to have all of the important accessories to hand.

From bottle openers to buckets, coolers and plenty of ice, having all of these items prepared will only make things easier for you and your guests – no one wants to be running around trying to find find a bottle opener in the middle of a play.

5. Ensure you have plenty of snacks

Ok, so now that you have your drinks in order, it's time to focus on the snacks, a crucial part of any party.

From chips, dip and popcorn (ideal for the nervous munchers out there) to Super Bowl themed food baskets – a nice gift to turn up with if you're attending a party, including a mix of sweet and savory treats will guarantee great snack success.

9. Stock up on servingware

There is nothing worse then running out of plates and glasses at a party, so if you're hosting a large number of people, disposable paper plates and cups are always going to be your best bet.

That's not to say you can't bring out some of your favorite dinnerware and servingware for the occasion, a large serving tray can beautifully elevate your snack presentation.

13. Don't forget the decorations

From classic balloons and string lights to themed banners and bunting, getting creative with Super Bowl decorations, both indoors and outdoors, will only add to the party atmosphere, and create a fun and welcoming impression as your guests arrive at your home.

Follow a color scheme of your team's colors to really get in the spirit, or invest in a 'Game Day' banner that can be used again and again for Super Bowl's in years to come.

17. Enhance the fun with Super Bowl games

Any Super Bowl Party is about watching the big game. However, as the Super Bowl falls on a Sunday, you have the whole day to extend the celebrations and party. Games are not only great fun for the kids, they can be enjoyed by all. Get your Super Bowl bingo cards to the ready!

21. Ensure you have plenty of comfy seating – with a good view of the TV!

Your Super Bowl party is going to be centered around your TV, so if you're planning on hosting a large number of people, having enough comfortable seating so everyone has a good view of the game is essential.

Whether you bring seats from your dining room into your living room, make the most of your movie room, or set up seating areas around multiple TV's in your home, always consider the view!
