Reese Witherspoon's former vacation home, Zuma Farms, is on the market for
$8 million – and the sale includes a vintage Airstream trailer in the backyard.
The 1950s estate, described as a 'rare, exceedingly private oasis,' sits in the foothills high above Malibu's Zuma Beach – the perfect location for a serene vacation home within walking distance to the shore. And it would seem that Reese Witherspoon agrees.
The Academy Award-winning actress, known for her roles in Big Little Lies and Legally Blonde, and her husband, Jim Toth, purchased the property (that qualifies as one of the world's best homes) for $6.3 million almost four years ago in 2019. They sold the oasis to Meg Haney, the daughter of Chattanooga real estate billionaire Franklin Haney – and sister of a fashion designer who once served as Witherspoon's stylist, Dirt (opens in new tab) reports.
The 73-year-old property upholds its vintage charm – from the wood-beam ceiling, brick fireplace, and abundance of large windows that overlook the lush yard (and the all-important Airstream trailer). However, the decorating ideas are notably more modern, following a significant renovation by the previous owners, who operated the property as a wedding venue.
An eat-in kitchen is outfitted with high-end stainless appliances leading from the vibrant living space – with sleek white cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and an extra table to enjoy breakfast overlooking the stately mature trees surrounding the backyard.
The main home similarly boasts a wet bar with a wine fridge and four bedrooms, including the primary suite with a spa-style soaking tub.
Alongside the main home, the estate has a repurposed barn and an additional structure with a media room and mirrored gym. The famed trailer also has its own kitchen space, bath, and enough room to sleep four people.
The cleverly repurposed barn was designed for stylish day-to-day living and dining; however, we admit it will look particularly striking over the holidays when decked out in traditional Christmas decor.
The barn exhibits striking hardwood floors, a towering ceiling with eye-catching beams, and an entertainer's dream kitchen with an oversized island, bar, and lounging area. The barn has an additional lofty ensuite bedroom (taking the total number to five) and another porch that blends indoor/outdoor living seamlessly.
The exteriors – surrounded by sycamores – are equally as charming (and suited to entertaining) – complete with a hot tub, fire pit, and a vine-covered pavilion with room for outdoor dining. There is also a sports court and versatile equestrian paddock leading up to the newly-renovated barn.
Graham Larson (opens in new tab) of Sotheby’s International Realty (Santa Monica - Venice Brokerage) currently holds the $8 million listing.
